Work Permit for Teanagers in UAE 2024 | Requirement

Executive Regulations UAE new labor law has details rules that every employer has to follow when hiring a teenager from ages 15 to 18 for work.

According to the new labor law which came into effect from February 2, 2022, person above 15 can get for internships or part-time jobs in private companies under many conditions and after getting the related permission from the MoHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation).

Persons under 15 years of age are not allowed to work in any condition in UAE.

According to the executive regulations which have the implementation of the law, companies hiring youngster must apply for either of two types of permits which is valid for maximum of one year:

• Student training permit: It allows companies and establishments to give training and recruit youngsters aged 15 under related rules that ensure a required healthy work environment.
• Youngsters permit: It allows employers to hire youngsters whose age is between 15 and 18 under the conditions mentioned in the law.

Establishments hiring youngsters must follow below guidelines:
i) To maintain record of youngsters that includes below:

• Full name and age of youngsters.
• The full detail and name of the youngster's guardian.
• Residence address and visa type of the youngsters and their guardian.
• Aware his employee about the on site safety.
• Must provide insurance to the youngsters.
• Date of employment and his/her job type.

Profession under those youngsters is not allowing to work:

• Job in Industrial enterprises
• Dangerous jobs that can put youngsters to danger their because of the type of work.

Establishments can hire youngsters over 15 under these conditions below:

• On paper written approval from the guardian.
• Medical fitness report is mandatory.
• Work should not more than 6 hours per day with minimum one hour break after continuous 4 hours work.
• Work between 7pm to 7am is not allowed.
• Cannot work under any risky job profile.
• Youngsters are not allowed to work on public holidays and they are not allowed to work overtime.

Types of part-time jobs can include:

• Up to six month Projects work.
• Work that need few hours over a year
• Internships or training programs.

Required documents for the minors working permit:

• Passport copy of minor.
• Visa copy of the minor.
• Application copy.
• Employment contract copy.
• Medical fitness report.
• Passport copy of guardian.
• Visa copy of parent or valid guardian.
• Colored photograph with white background of minor applicant.
• On paper written approval from minor's parent or guardian.

How to apply for a minor's work permit?

Establishments can apply for minor's permits from Tas'heel service centers across UAE. After the documents approval from the ministry the approval paper can be printed from the MoHRE website.
