Annual Leave as per UAE Labor Law 2024


Employee is getting annual leave in UAE

Annual leave is paid without work time period for an employee provided by an Employer.

Annual Leave in UAE as per MoHRE

The UAE Labor law has introduced a new labor law for the entire employee working in the UAE.Hence the new labor law has not any change on Annual leave time period as it is same like before the amendment.So we will discuss here about the Annual leave in UAE for Employees as per the law: As per the UAE labor Law Article no 75 Employees in UAE are:

Salary and allowances during annual leave in UAE:

Every employee is entitled to his basic salary and home allowances (if under contract) during the period of Annual leave.

Example: If your contract stated that your Total salary is AED 8000, your basic salary is AED 3000, plus company is providing Accommodation or Home allowances then during your annual leave you will get Basic salary of AED 3000 and Your Home allowances.

Air ticket for Employee in UAE:

Majority of companies are providing the air ticket to their employees in UAE when they are going on annual vacations but as per the UAE labor law employees (not domestic worker) are not entitled to a ticket for the annual leave so it means it is good if your company is providing you the air ticket but you cannot force to your employer for it.

Important Note: As per the UAE labor law at the time of end of your service (Termination or Completion of contract and not willing to renew the work permit) the employer has to provide the air ticket to your home country.

Employer can decide the date of Annual Leave in UAE:

Generally Annual leave starts when you completed one year of works but as per the law the employer has the right to make a decision on the starting date of annual leave.

Not only this, employer had the right to postpone your leave from first year to another year but not more than that.

The UAE labor law stated that the annual leave period will also include the weekly off-days like Saturdays or Sundays granted to employee.

Annual leave for domestic worker in UAE:

As per the UAE labor law every domestic worker in UAE is entitled 30 days paid vacation per year .Your leave can be carried forward to 60 days at the end of the contract.

If the work period is less than a year but more than six months you are entitled 2 days lave per month basis.

Salary and Ticket allowances for domestic worker in UAE:

Every domestic worker is entitled their full salary and leave allowance similar to your basic salary.

The Domestic worker is entitled to a round trip ticket every two years if you continue in the same work.

In case of termination: If your employer terminated you and it was not your fault then you are entitled to get one month full salary and Ticket to your home country.

Annual leave for part time worker in UAE:

For part time workers, they are also entitled to annual leave according to the working hours they spend with employer however every part time employee is entitled minimum 5 days leave per year as annual leave.
