How Non Muslims can get married in UAE as per new law 2024 - Full step by step guide

Non Muslim expats in UAE can get married in UAE and get registered at their respective embassies in UAE.

UAE established Temples, Churches and Gurudwaras in UAE where the expats performs their marriage as per their cultural and religious system.

Marriage in UAE can get affected by your home country law for example if an Indian man who want to get married in UAE whose age is less than 21 years so he cannot get married here also because the minimum age bar for getting married in India is 21 years old for a male and same for the girl whose age is less than 18 cannot get married in UAE if she is from India.

What is the eligibility to get married in UAE


There are some general rules in UAE for couples that they have to fulfill for getting married such as:

  • The Groom and bride should be minimum age of 18 years old.
    (Age bar depend on your country law also.)
  • Two witnesses are requiring at the time of marriage
  • Marriage formalities can be perform at their registered religious places or at the consulate or embassy of their country in UAE.
  • Couples must not be related by the first or second degree
  • Currently any one of them should not have married status.

Documents required for marriage in UAE for non Muslims


  • Passport copies of couples who are going to marry.
  • Birth certificate of both for age proof.
  • Valid Id of witnesses.
  • Pre marital medical screening for both.
  • For marriage in Dubai one of the person must have UAE Resident visa but in Abu Dhabi You can get married on visit visa also.
  • If the bride is non Muslim and the groom is Muslim then the procedure is same like above.
  • If the bride is Muslim and the groom is non Muslim, the groom must convert in Islam first then only he can marry.

Process time for marriage in UAE


After submission of online application and documents it takes approximately 10 working days to get approval. If your application is approved and you paid the fee AED 300 then you will get an email or call from the court to start the marriage ceremony procedure in Court of Abu Dhabi.
